This artifact is inspired by Cummins' article that mention the importance of helping students develop oral skills. This poetry center will help students practice their oral skills, fluency, and pronunciations. According to research conducted by Cummins and others when students develop oral skills they will more likely to interpet text in a more meaningful way. The more opportunities that students have to practice the better readers and writers they will become.
